Tales by Mail

After two fantastic years of fun, we have come to the difficult decision to wind down Tales by Mail and Hatchlings.

Our final Hatchlings boxes will be our May box (which has just gone in the post) and our final Tales by Mail boxes will be posted in June.

Tales by Mail has been a total adventure! From our very first school focus group – when one 9-year-old wisely advised “Boys like books about unicorns too!” – to sending out hundreds of bright orange boxes to all corners of the world. From packing boxes in our living rooms to scooping an award. From discovering some of the most mind-bendingly brilliant kids’ books to getting rave reviews from your children.

Now though, in a tough climate and with rising costs nipping at our heels, we have no choice but to sadly close our doors. It’s time to step away, have a rest and embrace new adventures.

Of course, we’ve still got lots to tidy up at Tales by Mail Towers and a final extra special box to send to our members this June, but ahead of that… We’d like to thank all of our members, followers and young readers for their support. We shall miss you all so very much.

Questions about our Final Weeks

Can I still subscribe to Tales by Mail?

No. Subscription spots for Tales by Mail are now closed. The best way to support our small business in the final weeks is to stock up on past boxes and goodies from our shop page.

Can I still buy Past Boxes from the Shop?

Yes. We’ve got lots of fantastic children’s book boxes available from our online shop. Go and have a browse and select a theme to suit your little readers.

Shop orders are posted out twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Our Shop will close on July 24th, so you’ve still got plenty of time do some bookish shopping!

Please note: we pack our parcels carefully, but in the rare case that you receive a damaged item from us, please send an email with photo evidence to thegirls@bookboxclub.com. We are unable to exchange, replace or refund items, unless they are damaged upon arrival.

Will I still be able to access the podcast?

Yes. We’ll continue to create podcasts to go with every Tales by Mail box (for readers aged 8-12). Podcasts will remain live on our website and on various media players until July 24th. If you’re saving up podcasts to listen to at a later date, please download them and keep them safe. 

How can I support Tales by Mail in the final weeks?
